Two Weeks of Professional-Level Theatre Training & Fun for Ages 7-15
The Phoenix Players will be running its second annual Theatre Camp for children and young adults for two weeks during Summer 2010. Headed by Anne Levy, a theatre professor at Michigan State University and the Director of the Players’ Phire Phlies Youth acting ensemble, the camp will have sessions for both beginning and advanced actors and actresses. There will be workshops on all aspects of theatre including auditioning, movement, acting techniques, creating a character, stage makeup, production basics, and for the advanced students, stage dialects, stage combat, and directing. All sessions will be taught by professional actors and faculty from the MSU Department of Theatre.
Students can sign up for one or two weeks.
The first week will be composed of half days with beginners in the morning from 9- 12 and advanced students in the afternoon from 1-4. The first week’s sessions will be devoted to theatre workshops. A maximum of 10 beginners and 10 advanced students will be accepted for the first week sessions.
The second week will be devoted to hands-on work in putting together a play for performance on July 30th in the early evening for parents, friends, and others. These will be all day sessions starting at 10 am and running through 4 pm. with a one hour lunch break from 12-1. Students can bring their lunch and stay with the group or be picked up and returned. A maximum of 15 students will be accepted for the second week.
* A deposit of $100 is required with the application. Final payment will be due by July 1. Cancellation fees will apply.
** Fully paid Phoenix Players Phire Plies members get a 15% discount on the cost of one and/or two weeks.
