Neil Simon- The master of comedy ends the season
Synopsis
It's an idyllic day in the summer of 1953 and the Hines
family is meeting at its retreat in the Pocono's for
the last time.
Although the setting is idyllic, in true Simon style,
the relationships between the members of the gathering
clan members are not.
Clemma, the family's housekeeper (and the story's narrator),
is dreading a visit from the husband who deserted her
years before. Burt Hines, a recovering workaholic convalescing
from his second heart attack, awaits the arrival of
the ex-wife he still loves, and Burt's daughter Josie,
having just broken her engagement to an intense Harvard
law student, is now yearning for her old flame Ray.
Throw into the mix the unexpected arrival of Ray with
a striking but dim-witted model on his arm, and a young
Miami gangster with a gift for malapropisms, and you
have Neil Simon at his classic best.
